All About Park City Neighborhoods

December 6, 2017 by GO PARK CITY

Park City Village: Located at the foot of the Park City base for Vail Resorts, the condominiums and homes in this area offer convenient access to the mountain and Park City Municipal Golf course during the summer. Just minutes from Historic Main Street with its restaurants, galleries and shopping, the neighborhood offers prime views of the mountain and the quintessential feeling of a small mountain town. Two grocery stores — Fresh Market and The Market — and liquor store are just minutes away.

Canyons Village: Mountain living finds a welcome home in the conveniently located Canyons Village, which is found midway between downtown Park City and Redstone shopping center at the offramp from highway 80 (and Salt Lake City International Airport just 30 minutes away). Immediate access to the mountain and Canyons Base for Vail Resorts means that skiing and snowboarding in the winter and downhill mountain biking and hiking during the summer, are right at your fingertips. Canyons Golf Course runs through the village and up to the resort base. A Waldorf Astoria offers upscale amenities and dining. A lively atmosphere in the summer includes outdoor concerts and a farmers market. Groceries and liquor store are just minutes away at the Newpark shopping center located at Kimball Junction. A Wal-mart and new Whole Foods are found minutes away close to the outlet mall.

Lower Deer Valley: Enjoy easy access to downtown Park City, with its world-class dining, art galleries, and quaint mountain shops, and close proximity to Deer Valley Resort’s main mountain access, Snow Park Lodge, in the homes of Lower Deer Valley. There is a great restaurant called The Brass Tag located in one of Deer Valley’s lodges, and basic items can be picked up at the resort’s Grocery Cafe adjacent to the recreational pond. The nearby St. Regis offers some of the best views of the area, and exquisite apres ski dining and weekend brunch.

Upper Deer Valley: Soothing aspen groves surround homes in this neighborhood and frequent moose and deer sightings right outside your doorstep are commonplace. Magnificent views of the surrounding hillside cloaked in thick woods typify the atmosphere in Upper Deer Valley. Most homes are minutes from Silver Lake Village at Deer Valley Resort and the five-star elevated dining at several of the area hotels, including Montage Deer Valley, Stein Erickson Lodge and Deer Valley’s Royal Street Grill. Historic Main Street is just a short drive down the hill, with its dining, night life, art galleries and shops.

Old Town: Soak up the laid back atmosphere of the historic heart of Park City in homes that lie in the original town’s neighborhood. Enjoy the mountain cuisine at world-class restaurants, artistic depictions of the four season mountain life at several art galleries and browse quaint stores and boutiques on Main Street. Leave the car behind in this walkable town, and hop onto the mountain with the ski-in/ski-out Town Lift right onto Main Street. Ideal for Sundance Film Festival access and for people who want to be in the middle of the action. Groceries and liquor store are several minutes away in nearby plazas.

Silver Star: Take full advantage of the ski-in/ski-out access of Silver Star homes, which offer immediate lift access to the Park City Mountain side of Vail Resorts. Pool and Park City Municipal Golf course access in the summer time are complemented with mountain dining from a local favorite restaurant, the Silver Star Cafe, which features nightly entertainment from live acoustic acts. Bike and ski rentals also offered through a local outfitter located within the neighborhood. Close by to groceries and a short ride to downtown Park City.

Bear Hollow: Enjoy the conveniences and comforts of a family neighborhood with access to biking and hiking trails. Found just minutes from the Redstone shopping center at the off ramp to highway 80, just 30 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport. Groceries, Wal-Mart, Whole Foods, liquor store and a wide variety of restaurants are minutes away. The neighborhood also offers a private pool with hottubs, fitness center and is located a few minutes from the Canyons Base for Vail Resorts and also the Utah Olympic Park.

Black Rock Ridge: East on I-40 past Quinn’s Junction and Park City’s only hospital, Black Rock Ridge is conveniently located on the way towards Kamas. The quiet development is only three minutes to Mayflower Lift at the Deer Crest side of Deer Valley Resorts, and about a 10 minute drive from Historic Main Street.

Thaynes: Steep mountain vistas characterize the homes in picturesque Thaynes Canyon, found nestled between Vail Resorts’ two adjoining bases, Canyons and Park City. Thick forest punctuate the neighborhood of spacious homes on wooded lots, and ample hiking trails wind up to a bird’s eye view of Park City. Easy access to Park City Municipal Golf course. Groceries and liquor store are found a few minutes away at the Market, and further on, Fresh Market.

Park City Restaurants we recommend

October 6, 2017 by GO PARK CITY

Part of what we love so much about Park City is the dining – our little town has really evolved over the years to include world class dining and loads of options for everyone, from fine dining to family style. Here are some of our favorite hotspots to hit up:

KIMBALL JUNCTION

CORTONA :: cortonaparkcity.com
Cortona is a tiny restaurant tucked into a mall on the outskirts of Kimball Junction near the liquor store. Blink and you’ll miss it. But don’t let the small size (it probably seats 40 people at full capacity) fool you. They make their own pasta daily and have a killer homemade gelato menu to satisfy any after-dinner sweet cravings. Open for dinner only.

TRIO :: parkcity.triodining.com
6585 N Landmark Dr
Part of a Salt Lake City-based restaurant group, this Mediterranean restaurant found near the outlet mall is great for family-friendly service and flatbread pizza.

MAXWELL’S :: maxwellsece.com
Known for its thin crust pizza, this East Coast-inspired Italian eatery doubles as a sports bar with multiple games broadcast on TVs hung above the bar. A great family-friendly atmosphere, they sell pizza by the slice and even have an ice cream cookie dessert “pizza” that kids love!

SZECHWAN :: szechwanpc.flavorplate.com
A speedy and dependable Chinese food locale with plenty of variety, Szechwan is great for dining in or take out. Their dishes come out hot with lightning speed and they have the option for white or brown rice with each order.

VESSEL :: vesselkitchen.com
1784 Uinta Way, Suite 1E
This cafeteria-style restaurant serving up healthy options has really taken off with its imaginative and tasty concept that caters to people seeking clean and fresh dining. Though the concept is initially jarring, the counter service allows speedy service and the added eye candy of seeing the delicious options right before your eyes. They also sell kombucha that is brewed onsite.

PROSPECTOR

FRESHIES LOBSTER CO :: freshieslobsterco.com
1897 Prospector Ave.
Lobster rolls might seem to be an odd offering in Utah but the folks at Freshies have made a name for themselves and their Maine-style favorites. They originally started out in the Park Silly Sunday Market but now serve seafood from a counter-style deli

GRUB STEAK RESTAURANT :: grubsteakrestaurant.com
2200 Sidewinder Dr
Certainly known for serving up the best prime rib in town, Grub Steak House offers diners fine dining away from Main Street in a Western-themed atmosphere. Dinners are accompanied with a full salad bar — leave room for desserts!

EL CHUBASCO :: elchubascomexicangrill.com
1890 Bonanza Drive
This Mexican restaurant serves authentic cuisine from south of the border — including pozole, chile rellenos and carnitas, along with tacos, enchiladas and burritos — and boasts a huge, self-serve salsa bar. Often fills up fast during the lunchtime rush.

SAMMY’S BISTRO :: sammysbistro.com
1890 Bonanza Drive
Perennial locals’ favorite Sammy’s is like the Cheer’s of Park City. With beers on tap and a game playing in the background, the casual atmosphere belies the expansive menu and great variety of healthy options, including gluten free items.

WINE DIVE / BONEYARD SALOON :: winedivepc.com
1251 Kearns Blvd
Sister restaurants Wine Dive and Boneyard Saloon offer casual dining with shared menus and a wide offering of cocktails and brews on tap. Elevated small plates such as tuna tartare, short ribs and lettuce cups meets bar classics like burgers and fries.

BLIND DOG :: blinddogpc.com
Blind Dog boasts an enormous menu of everything from sushi to steak. The restaurant is large and accommodating, and during the summer there is a large patio with live music and specials midweek touting two-for-one appetizers or happy hour.

MAIN STREET

FIREWOOD :: firewoodonmain.com
306 Main Street
Under the purview of Chef/Owner John Murcko, this relatively new eatery serves up fine dining with a rustic twist — its seasonal cuisine is cooked over wood fire stoves stoked by the chef team. This restaurant offers more than steaks and cuts of meat, it’s the subtle aesthetic of the carefully sourced food that tells the story. Nickle bar in the basement features craft cocktails and a bar counter lined with pennies.

HANDLE :: handleparkcity.com
136 Heber Ave.
Handle on the corner of Swede Alley and Heber St also is a trend setter in the Utah dining scene. Small plates of seasonal ingredients in unexpected and delightful presentations — Buffalo style cauliflower?? — are perfect for sharing with company. Chef Briar Handly isn’t afraid to push the envelope and innovate on the plate in ways that allow singular ingredients to shine. The hipster bar serves up inventive craft cocktails with flair.

NO NAME SALOON :: nonamesaloon.net
This former cowboy bar is on everyone’s list of places to drink in Park City. Its rooftop terrace is open rain, snow or shine, and attracts a crowd of people who are looking to see and be seen. A late night kitchen serves up great burgers and pub grub til all hours.

THE SPUR :: thespurbarandgrill.com
The Spur is a Western-inspired saloon that gets packed to the rafters on the weekends with locals looking to kick up their heels to the rock, blue grass, and cover jams played by live bands. The wrap around bar allows for maximum socializing and the dance floor always fills up as the night progresses.

TUPELO :: tupeloparkcity.com
508 Main Street
Tupelo burst onto the scene right on Main Street in fall 2015 run by husband-wife duo Chef Matthew Harris and Maggie Alvarez. Chef Harris has fine dining pedigree — he helped open the first J&G in Atlanta and then took the helm to open the J&G at the St. Regis Deer Valley. Tupelo’s diverse cuisine inspiration from the local mountain fare with a distinctly southern twist. tupeloparkcity.com

PARK CITY MOUNTAIN

RUTH’S CHRIS STEAKHOUSE
Guy Hatch’s personal favorite restaurant, this locale offers dependable steak house cuisine in the Hotel Park City.

SILVER STAR CAFE :: thesilverstarcafe.com
Silver Star Cafe near the Silver Star lift at Park City Mountain is the locals’ best kept secret. Live music in the evening on the weekends entertain clients and homegrown, reasonably priced fare keep us all coming back for more. This spot is also the place to be for brunch on the weekends as it boasts a wide open terrace that sits in the sun for the majority of the day.
